I reserve the right to change my mind

"Speak your love and then speak it again."

– Howard W. Hunter

Last week I said I wouldn't be doing another issue before the end of 2020, but I just didn't want to let a Wednesday go by without my favorite ritual of sending my Alex Emails newsletter. It's a short one today!

Yesterday my little sister got married in Salt Lake, and as her co-wedding planner, I knew today would be busy tying up loose ends and getting home to my girls (Charlie came with us – lucky duck). It was a whirlwind of a celebration, from the coldest clearest weather to the dreamiest dress and the sweetest toasts. Somehow I didn't take a single photo all day! I finished the night with a glass bottle of Coke and a box of macarons in my sweats.

I had a bunch of family helping me put Lizzy's wedding together yesterday, namely Maddie and Will, who got married in Paris a year and a day ago :)

Can you believe it? Nate and I got engaged T E N years ago this week!

I've had my eye out for a ten-year anniversary ring for a long time, and I've decided to have it custom made with &Then. May can't come soon enough!

Kacey Musgraves retweeted: "If you play Rainbow at exactly 11:57:06 pm on December 31st, the first thing you'll hear in 2021 is, 'It'll all be alright.'" Definitely doing this tomorrow :)

Speaking of rainbows, Nate gave me this delightful book for Christmas – color nerds, you need this! The Secret Lives of Color by Kassia St. Clair

The last thing I'd like to say to you, my lovely readers, this year:

"There is power in love. Don't underestimate it. Don't even oversentimentalize it. There's power, power in love."
– Michael Curry

That's all, y'all! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

XOX, Alex

The bride and groom!
I took this back in June when Elizabeth and Nicholas came to visit us between semesters. It was the first time I'd met Nick and it took about five seconds to see that he was The Guy for Liz.
