Farewell Kelly

As many of you know Kelly Brown, PoCo Heritage's Manager and Museum Curator, has left us for a new opportunity at the City of Delta. On January 11th, we had a small goodbye party for Kelly where a poem was read and many tears were shed.

Kelly was employed at PoCo Heritage's Museum and Archives for nearly 3 years and during her time was responsible for new programs, projects and events such as the new Port Coquitlam Historical Continuum and our very successful Brew Ha-Ha festival! Kelly set a high example and left a long lasting legacy here at PoCo Heritage. Her laughter, rigorous attention to detail and incredible organization skills will be incredibly missed. However, while we are sad to see her go we wish her well in her new position.

Good Luck Kelly!

7th Annual Christmas Tree Awards Ceremony

Last Saturday, PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives hosted the 7th Annual Christmas Tree Awards Ceremony. The event was well attended with many of this year's participants in the audience. Winners of this year's festival categories received prizes and trophies presented by sponsors and a few of the City of Port Coquitlam's council members.

A big thank you goes to all our volunteers who helped set up and take down the event. As well as to Marg Owens who organized the ceremony and coordinated the winners. Congratulations again to to all our winners and we look forward to seeing your participation in next year's PoCo Heritage's 8th Annual Christmas Tree Festival!

Port Coquitlam's "F" Words: Flu, Fire, Flood and Financial Fears
PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives
January - December 2020

This exhibit will explore four ruinous events - the Spanish Flu, a raging downtown fire, a devastating flood, and an economic financial crash - which occurred very early on in Port Coquitlam' history.

Any one of these events could have spelled the end for the newly created City of Port Coquitla, but the city's resilient spirit and persistence in the face of adversity carried them through these troubled times into a prosperous future!

Ongoing Exhibits

Naturally PoCo - Ending In January
PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives

Explore Port Coquitlam's natural beauty through the lenses of community photographers!

Every year the residents of Port Coquitlam submit their photos to our exhibit collaborators, the City of Port Coquitlam, for publication in the City's "Naturally PoCo" Community Calendar. Our Naturally PoCo exhibit displays a selection of the hundreds of photos that were submitted to the City throughout the year of 2018, alongside photographs and artifacts from our collections that explore photography over the last 110 years.

Come explore Port Coquitlam's beautiful seasons with us!

Volunteer with PoCo Heritage

We are looking to recruit new volunteers!

We are wanting to develop a lot of new museum events and programming (trivia nights, murder mysteries, movie nights, book clubs, and more!) as well as fun and interactive exhibits - and we could use your help!

If you are interested in sharing your creativity with us by helping to develop some of this programming please check out the four fun, creative positions below:

If you are interested or would like more information please contact Kelly Brown, Manager and Curator at info@pocoheritage.org

Book Donations

Our Little Free Library has been so popular that it is hard to keep it stocked with books!

If you have any books that you are willing to donate to the Little Free Library please drop them off at the PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives, Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

"Sarah and Michael Explore Port Coquitlam" Book Sale

We are selling copies of our collaborative children's history book in the PoCo Heritage Museum and Archives!

The books are $15 each, and this money is being used to create bursaries to further strengthen our community by helping to fund high school students who are interested in pursuing post-secondary education in culture, heritage, or the arts.
