IN THE NEWS

EVENING AT THE MUSEUM

PoCo Heritage's first ever VIRTUAL "Evening at the Museum" was a success! On June 4th we hosted an "Evening at the Museum" event via ZOOM featuring speakers from Port Coquitlam's Giggle Dam.

Owners of the establishment, Mark Friebe and Jon Lundquist, spent a good chunk of an hour telling the story of how this very famous DAM came to be. Retelling fond memories, audience members spent the hour laughing alongside these very entertaining comedians. To end, Mark and Jon spoke of how Covid-19 has affected their business and the creative initiatives they have taken to keep themselves afloat such as selling mouthwatering DIPS!

The Giggle Dam plans on reopening soon. When they do, make sure to visit and help support this local business.  Thank you again to Mark and Jon for speaking at our event and a big thank you to all who tuned in for the evening. Your support is always appreciated.

Our next "Evening at the Museum" virtual event is scheduled for Thursday, July 23rd. The event theme is FLOODS and will feature the Fraser Basin Council!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA

This year we celebrated Canada Day with a virtual Scavenger Hunt across Downtown PoCo. Members of the public, umbrellas in hand, took to the street to visit five different murals located in Port Coquitlam. At each mural, participants had answer questions about  our city, province and country's history.

If you completed this year's hunt make sure to submit your answered questions to info@pocoheritage.org for a chance to win a prize!
