DEC meeting change!  
No regular general meeting on March 22.
Instead special meeting for election of new Chair
to be held March 29. 
The PCDEC will hold a Special Chair Election on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 7:00pm via Zoom. 

Only precinct committeemen and precinct committeewomen elected and certified by the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections following the August 18, 2020 election, and those elected or appointed at the January 25, 2021 General Meeting, along with automatic members, are eligible to vote at this meeting. 

To facilitate the elections to be conducted at the meeting within the requirements of our Bylaws, the Credentials Committee has approved special election procedures. You can view/download the full set of election procedures at this link.

The Credentials Committee will hold a practice session for this election on Saturday March 27, 2021 at 2:00pm. 

The Credentials Committee will also send out unique Zoom links to each member 24 hours prior to the Special Chair Election to be held on Monday March 29, 2021.

Lucinda Johnston

I’m Lucinda Johnston and I’m running for Chair of the PDEC. 

The resignation of the leader of any organization creates challenges that must be met with careful planning and diplomacy to assure the organization endures the transition and emerges
unified, energized and excited about new opportunities. I believe I can help to do that as Chair of this Party.

Join fellow Democrats to help spruce up our headquarters. We'll be doing light yardwork, pressurewashing, and various housecleaning. Some good clean fun!

Training Opportunities

Effective Texting Campaigns. Almost all texts get opened, so texting is a great way to reach voters! We are adopting precincts so you or other volunteers can text the same people for the next two years and really get to know your voters. This is a volunteer opportunity that works with your schedule. You can text twenty minutes at a time or an hour at a time.

Sticking to Talking Points. Do you get flustered when confronted by someone who tells you that something is "fake news"? Unsure how to get the Democratic message to undecided voters? This training is for you. Gain expertise on our Democratic talking points and how to stick to them when faced with opposition.

So You Want To Run For Office? Have you ever thought about running for office, but don't know where to start? Do you want to know more about how campaigns work? Are you interested in seeing what it might take to run in the future? Come to this training to gain insight on what goes into a local campaign. Topics will include things like fundraising, finding volunteers, Primary contests, what to expect from the Party, and polling. Get ready to run (or to support someone else who's running)!

District, Club, and Caucus News


Pinellas Young Democrats are pleased to announce Lauren Mullins as their new president.
 
The Young Democrats meets next on March 16th (always third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM) via zoom. Find info on their website, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
The Largo/Mid-Pinellas Dem Club meets on the third Monday of each month at 7pm. Check out their current newsletter, website, and Facebook page.  

A fantastic line up of speakers in the coming months include:
  • March 15 -  Florida Director of All On The Line, Katie Vicsik
  • April 19 - former Congressman, David Jolly
  • May 17 - Rep. Anna Eskamani (D - Orlando)
On April 7 at 6:30pm, the Democratic Club of St. Petersburg will be hosting a speaker on the subject of “Medicine in the Age of COVID-19” as well as hearing from Lucinda Johnson regarding Earth Day 2021. 
 
The club meets virtually on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm with social time starting at 6:30. Email the club for Zoom link and membership information, or with any other questions.
The South St. Petersburg Democratic Club is taking care of business, including annual board elections, at their next meeting Saturday, March 20 at this Zoom link.  This club always meets meets on the third Saturday of each month at 12pm. Find them on Facebook.  
 
On Tuesday, March 16, the North Pinellas Democratic Club will be hearing from Congressman Charlie Christ and State Representative Andrew Learned during their monthly meeting at this Zoom link. Social time begins at 6:30pm, with meeting call to order at 7:00pm. Annual elections will also be held. 
 
Democrats pictured above are part of District 65's effort to helping with COVID-19 vaccine registration, assisting those without Internet access/device or who are having difficulty with the phone registration system. And, they are offering voter registration too!
