In her brilliant inaugural poem, Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman said,
"being American is more than a pride we inherit,
it’s the past we step into
and how we repair it.”
This Black History Month, we must not only look to understand how America came to where we are today, but explore how the priorities and policies we choose today will address the past and reshape our future.
Candidate Joe Biden was buoyed and elected largely due to the commitment and work of Black organizers and voters. The Biden campaign published last year a Plan for the Black Community. During Black History Month, we will offer a look at each point in his plan and highlight how the administration is seeking to enact these policies at home.
