Alan AtKisson donated the copyright of the Compass tools to Compass Education!

And here is the BIG news that we have been waiting to share with you! During our 2nd bi-annual retreat last month, Alan AtKisson, our long-time champion, mentor and benefactor announced that he is donating the copyright and proprietary ownership of the Compass tools to Compass Education. This is an amazing "gift" from Alan and gives us a stronger foundation with which to expand on our offerings and services to the education community.

Word of appreciation for the Compass Tools donation by Robert Steele (CE Founder)

This past month Compass Education received some very exciting news from our long-time champion, mentor and benefactor – Alan AtKisson – as he announced to CE the generous “gifting” of the ownership of the AtKisson Accelerator Toolkit. This is a milestone event for Compass Education as it brings our organisation full circle back to Compass Education’s conceptual birth in 2009, when a core group of school leaders and teachers from the Prem International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand attended an AtKisson Accelerator training course lead by Alan AtKisson. During the workshop, these inspired educators saw the transformational potential of adapting the tools, particularly the Compass of Sustainability and Pyramid, along with the systems thinking approach, to classroom application in order to help move schools from the education ‘about’ sustainability paradigm to an education “as” sustainability paradigm. This event was the birth of Compass Education, which has grown into an international network of educators and schools across 42 countries, with a strong thread that ties us all together and inspires us; i.e. the power of using the Compass, the Pyramid and system thinking for transformational learning.

Registration open for Teaching and Learning for a Sustainable World: A Systems Thinking Approach course in 2022!

As you know, the COP26 in Glasgow drew to an end a couple of weeks ago. Although global leaders took important steps in addressing climate change, it is clear to everyone that there is much more to be done. Have you ever wondered, how can you as educators empower your students (and yourselves) to take action on climate change now? How can our students engage with these issues and make a difference?  How can we bring these topics into our teaching and learning in every subject, not just the ones we typically associate with sustainability?
Dig deeper into sustainability and systems thinking, and take away useful and powerful systems thinking tools that can be integrated into any curriculum and every class level in just 7 weeks through our Compass Practitioner course 'Teaching and Learning for a Sustainable World: A Systems Thinking Approach'.
