FPDS Announces Dyslexia Immersion Model

First Presbyterian Day School (FPDS) announced recently that beginning in August of 2017, the school will provide an academic immersion model for students participating in its dyslexia program.

“The mission of this model is to provide a Christ-centered environment where students with dyslexia are immersed in an educational setting specifically designed to meet their unique learning styles while enhancing their God-given gifts and preparing them to transition to the next phase of their educational journey,” said Gary Herring, FPDS head of school.

Carol Brister, technology integrationist, and Trey Tracy, director of technology, launched a new after-school program this semester aimed at furthering a student's passion for technology.  Students in S.W.A.T. are learning more about coding, 3-D modeling, movie editing and more.

Recently, S.W.A.T. visited the Nissan plant in Canton, Mississippi, to kick off their 3-D modeling lessons.  Students learned how a vehicle is manufactured from start to finish.

Fabulous Friends

Jeans for Genes Day

The Fabulous Friends class at First Presbyterian Day School held a Jeans for Genes Day to recognize World Down Syndrome Day. The class raised more than $1,200 for the Central Mississippi Down Syndrome Society by asking the school for donations for the opportunity to wear jeans to school. Our Fabulous Friends led the school in the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer and participated in activities with their homerooms.
