TD Markham Jazz Festival Announces Early Confirmed Artists!

The TD Markham Jazz Festival has grown into a respected, wide-reaching event, and a must-see stop on the Ontario circuit of live jazz and music festivals each summer.  Returning attendees know the charm of Unionville, the presence of uplifting music everywhere, the variety of jazz and blues with something to suit each individual taste, and the incredible fact that thanks to our valued sponsors and grant providers, all of our three outdoor stages are FREE!

So please mark your calendars for August 15 (our Opening Night Concert at the Varley Art Gallery more exciting news to follow about that) and Friday August 17 to Sunday evening August 19 when we close off the show!

Here are a few early announcements to whet your appetite for fabulous live jazz and blues!  Many more announcements to follow. We will be presenting over 30 concerts!

Deva Mahal – Friday, August 17: 9:30 to 11:00pm at the Millennium Bandstand

A powerhouse vocalist and songwriter, and coming to visit us from New York, Deva Mahal is the daughter of legendary blues musician Taj Mahal, with whom she wrote the song, Never Let You Go on his Grammy Award nominated album Maestro. Deva's particular brand of soul embraces her blues roots, with an infusion of gospel-tinged vocals, funk rhythms, jazz-like arrangements, and an R&B sensibility. Her undeniable vocal talent never ceases to blow audiences away, and her star continues to rise with new music due out on Motéma in 2018. www.devamahal.com
