For businesses currently enrolled in the JobSaver program, please read this important update regarding a policy change and correspondence issued out by Service NSW on Friday 10 September.
You may have recently received an email from Service NSW advising that your business needs to retest it's eligibility each fortnight from 10 September 2021 to continue to receive JobSaver payments.

The policy change requires businesses to reaffirm they continue to experience at least the minimum decline in turnover and have maintained their employee headcount, to continue receiving fortnightly JobSaver payments.

Following discussions with various professional bodies late Friday evening, the NSW Government announced a grace period from reaffirming for the first fortnightly payment in September. This means that you do not need to re-test your decline in turnover for the period from 1 September to 13 September 2021.

The Service NSW system currently allows you to confirm the period from 13 - 26 September 2021 but businesses must wait to confirm the actual decline in turnover before making a claim.

We are advised that over the next week the various professional bodies will be lobbying for further change to this process and we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

Re-testing the Decline in Turnover
from 13 September 2021

To receive the JobSaver payment for the period 13–26 September 2021, a business must confirm that, in the period from 13–26 September 2021, it has continued to experience a decline in turnover of at least 30% compared to:
  • The same period in 2019;
  • The same period in 2020; or
  • The 2-week period from 12–25 June 2021.
Important - The same year must be chosen for the comparison period as used in the business’ initial application.

Example - If your business applied for a fortnight in July 2021 in the original application, chose to use 2 weeks in July 2019 as a comparison and now wants to claim for 13–26 September 2021, it MUST use 13–26 September 2019 as its comparison period.

It is not clear what happens if your business does not meet the 30% decline in a given fortnight but it is believed that businesses may oscillate in and out of JobSaver from one fortnight to the next. This remains to be officially confirmed.
