On Sunday 25 July 2021 Service NSW released further details for the JobSaver program and the Micro Business Grant

Applications for the
JobSaver Program and the Micro Business Grant are open now and will close 18 October 2021.

Businesses outside the highly impacted industries list will require a letter from a Qualified Accountant or a Registered Tax/BAS Agent to complete the application. Please get in touch with our office to discuss what we will need from you to be able to provide this letter.

Our client guide has been updated following the release of this information and can be accessed via the link below. We will continue to update the guide as further details are released.

Applying for Assistance

JobSaver is designed to support business expenditure through fortnightly payments between a minimum of $1,500 and maximum of $10,000 per week. Payments will be backdated to cover costs incurred from week 4 of the Greater Sydney lockdown (from 18 July 2021 onwards).

The amounts available for businesses employing staff will be equal to 40% of weekly NSW payroll:
  • Minimum of $1,500 per week; and
  • Maximum of $10,000 per week;
Payroll means the Australian Tax Office (ATO) concept of total salary, wages and other payments, as declared at W1 in a Business Activity Statement (BAS) with respect to the payments made for employees that usually worked, or were based, in New South Wales. This will typically be with reference to the March 2021 BAS for those that report GST quarterly or the May 2021 BAS for those that report GST monthly.

Eligible non-employing businesses will be able to receive $1,000 per week. Please note that sole-traders are unable to receive both a Commonwealth COVID-19 Disaster Payment and the JobSaver Payment.

Read our updated guide or head to the Service NSW Website for further details on eligibility.

COVID-19 Micro Business Grant

Micro businesses (including sole traders) that don't meet the $75,000 minimum turnover test to be eligible for the COVID-19 Business Support Grant or the JobSaver program may be eligible for the Micro Business Grant.

Where the aggregated annual turnover is between $30,000 and $75,000, the Micro Business Grant provides fortnightly payments of $1,500 ($750 per week) while lockdown restrictions apply. The grants are available from week one of the lockdown until restrictions are eased.

To be eligible the business must provide the primary income source for a person associated with the business. Non-employing businesses are not eligible to apply for this grant if anyone associated with the business or who derives income from it has received the Commonwealth COVID-19 disaster payment.

Read our updated guide or head to the Service NSW Website for further details on eligibility.
