Monterey Bay Community Power Completes Community Study Sessions

Three Community Study Sessions were hosted by Monterey Bay Community Power in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties in May and June.

These study sessions provided an update on the current state of Monterey Bay Community Power and presentations reviewing financing/credit, legal aspects of the CCE, the results of the Technical/Feasibility Study, and the goals and reccommendations of the Project Development Advisory Committee (PDAC).

Best Practices Recommendations:
  • Stand alone regional JPA for economy of scale in procurement, financing, & long-term operations
  • Keep local control of operational decisions/revenue streams
  • Utilized existing CCE expert consultants and back-end administrative systems
  • 11-13 board members comprised of elected officials and alternates
  • Technical Advisory Committee of industry experts without a conflict
  • Board representation structure similar to that of the Monterey Bay Air Resources District
  • Regionally equitable relative to population & electricity usage
UCSC Climate & Energy Strategy Update
