Let's start 2016 with a bang! What better way to do this than to attend the next Compact meeting on January 21st? Scroll down to review last year's projects along with goals & strategies for a successful 2016.

Collaborative Projects that have emerged through the Climate Action Compact:

  • The Community Choice Aggregation received $350K and formed tri-county collaboration, with Phase 1 Technical Study underway 
  • The Monterey Bay Carbon Fund installed two local Solar for Schools projects and funded solar workforce development curriculum at Rancho Cielo Youth Campus
  • In partnership with MBEVA, three electric vehicle charging stations have been installed as a result of the Compact's RFP to members
  • The Panoche Valley Solar Project shared tips for solar planning in local jurisdictions with the Compact
  • The Compact submitted a grant application for the UCSC Carbon Fund on behalf of our members 
  • The Compact hosted a free webinar in partnership with Ecoshift and The Offset Project on how to incorporate successful carbon fund models into local jurisdictions and organizations
  • City of Watsonville presented their newly approved Climate Action Plan and localized Carbon Fund 
  • County of Monterey presented on Community Climate Action Plan

Goals & Strategies for 2016:

  • Collaborate as a Compact to provide support to the Community Choice Aggregation (CCA)
  • Build Compact membership to increase funding
  • Provide Compact letter of support for a California Energy Commission grant to plan Advanced Energy Communities 
  • Collaborate with the Alliance of Regional Collaboratives for Climate Adaptation (ARCCA) 
  • Increase awareness of the Compact through project collaboration
  • Support City of Santa Cruz Solar PV Program replication in Watsonville through UCSC grant proposal submitted by the Compact & Ecoshift
  • Leverage funds to support solar projects at the Santa Cruz Homeless Shelter
