Blythe Barton Dance returns to the San Diego Fringe Festival to present “Reverberate” in partnership with the classical music offerings of the critically acclaimed Neave Trio. Together they fill the stage with thrilling sounds and sights.
BBD and Neave Trio first paired together at UCSD’s ArtPower! Wonderland in the fall of 2013. The joyful success of their partnership has brought these artists together again. The dancers of BBD are among the most talented and technical in San Diego and their embodiment of the live score will energize your senses.
In new choreography, BBD explores the classical rhythms of Neave Trio’s playlist: the sweet swells of Fauré, where dancers float and extend through space; the staggering shifts of Piazzolla’s tangos, as dancers travel the emotional seasons; and the vast depths of Shostakovich’s chords that announce the ending of time and place.
Now participating for the third year in the San Diego Fringe Festival, Barton’s past contributions include the steamy duet of Gertrude Stein and her wife for “Infamous” produced by Michael Mizerany. The piece won the Top Box Office Award 2013. Last year’s Fringe success “Perception and Perseverance,” with Zaquia Salinas, was awarded Best Dance Performance 2014. Audiences have come to expect the amped up power and style of Barton’s signature complexly layered and dynamic choreography. “Reverberate” will not disappoint.
