Introduction

These last couple of weeks have been a lot of fun, and to be honest, fairly busy... OpenHours had it's first "Community Minute", Jean-Marc Jobin (our seasoned core community member) took over the mic to talk about his efforts with both the Sensors Mezzanine and the Audio Mezzanine. We welcomed a new member to the 96Boards team, Mani, who will be helping us to level the playing field as we push out new and exciting 96Boards projects... And before all of this, a foundation must be established! We will once again tackle the year long battle of IO and universal enablement across all 96Boards (To be discussed in OpenHours on April 21st at 4:00p UTC).

On another note, Qualcomm Brazil has launched a partnership program in IoT Solutions development using the 96Boards, Qualcomm DragonBoard 410c! This is going to be an exciting one folks because guess what? Twenty teams will develop over the next 2 month to create some amazing things using 96Boards... If you would like to know more about this initiative and how 96Boards is involved, please check out this blog :)

"The Community Minute" - With Jean-Marc Jobin

A welcomed segment to the previously established OpenHours model! Our new community minute started off with a bang as Jean-Marc jumped in ready to talk about his work using various 96Boards mezzanine boards. He set focus to the Sensors Mezzanine and the Audio Mezzanine while running Android as his preferred operating system. For those of you who participate frequently in OpenHours, you will know, we are in shortage of Android advocates. Having someone pushing mezzanine efforts with Android is a welcome sight!

If anyone is interested in running your own mezzanine test on Android, Jean-Marc was kind enough to help us with a nice blog outlining his efforts! Please check the blog out here

That new 96Boards guy, Mani

Many of you already joined us in welcoming Manivannan Sadhasivam to the 96Boards team last week, thank you, and please join me in welcoming him once again! Keep your eyes peeled as Mani releases a plethora of exciting material that will push the 96Boards experience to another level. Together we will bring light to the many 96Boards mysteries by expanding on current instruction sets and offering new ones! We are changing the consumption process with canned exercises and full blown projects. Get ready for vertical market use-cases filled with detailed sample code, in depth instructions paired with blogs, videos and of course, don't forget Openhours!.

Find Mani on IRC as "mani_s" in both #96Boards and #OpenHours

Next week(April 20, 2017)

96Boards unified I/O libraries. Much has been said and developed over the past year, but how much actually works, what still needs to be done, and are we in fact headed in the right direction? This will all be up for discussion, this week on OpenHours. Our newest 96Boards teammate (Mani) will bring some new work to light, so don’t miss this very informative and exciting episode.

Last week(April 13, 2017)

We are at it again. Last week, we bundled two new segments together into something we are calling the  "Core Community minute", these new efforts were brought to you by 96Boards, Linaro and of course our Core Community! After taking a look at some topic brought forward by Jean-Marc Jobin around mezzanine products with DragonBoard 410c running Android OS, we dove into the world of laser cutters  with Daniel Thompson. Daniel not only explained how his laser cutter works, but he also showed us many of his projects and shared his designed files with us. All of this was summarized in blog last week that can be found here!
