Guidance dealing with patients with suspected coronavirus infection

Primary care professionals can use this information to reduce the risk of spread of infection during and following consultation with a suspected case of WN-CoV.
View the guidance here.
It is possible that Wuhan novel coronavirus (WN-CoV) may cause mild to moderate illness, in addition to pneumonia or severe acute respiratory infection, so patients could potentially present to primary care. See further information on WN-CoV.

Guidance on patient registration in practices

We have had many queries from practices regarding registering patients and what documents are required, please find BMA guidance and NHSE info for patients registering with a GP practice. As identified there is nothing within the contract that states that a patient has to have photo ID to register. You can view the guidance here. You can share the document attached here with patients who require more information about registering here.

NHS Digital: The Health and Social Care Network (HSCN) – Your future GP Connectivity
The Health and Social Care Network (HSCN) is the replacement connectivity solution for healthcare, providing a solid backbone for the delivery of digital care services. This is replacing the old N3 network - also called the transition Network (TN).

HSCN will provide several advantages over your current connectivity:

• Faster connectivity at reduced prices, thus supporting initiatives such a Digital First, as well as improved performance for primary care systems, e-prescribing etc

• Simplified connectivity with third sector providers, for referrals and discharge notifications

What will happen?

Your CCG HSCN project team will work with your IT supplier / CSU to develop plans for your migration to HSCN. NHS Digital’s local HSCN project teams will provide additional guidance and support and ensure all parties understand the various activities required to prepare for a successful migration.
