Trucks + Pedestrian/Micro-Mobility Safety ... a hot topic ... and a solution!

A hot topic of truck and heavy vehicle safety in the context of vulnerable road users is currently passionately discussed in Europe and many parts of the world. Pedestrians, bicycle riders and micro-mobility users are at risk from turning heavy vehicles due to limited visibility.
However, there are solutions and one such is offered by our CSR-Partner ZF WABCO. The WABCO retrofittable Turning Assistant System (TAS) targets to increase vision perception for drivers of heavy vehicles with built-in blind Spot Detection technology during turning and comprehensive passive lane change information over wide range of blind spot area on non-driver side.
The targeted launch date is mid of 2023!
WABCO's TAS increases vision perception for drivers of commercial vehicles with built-in Blind Spot Detection technology during turning and comprehensive Passive Lane Change information. Radar, camera, and alarm system detects potential collision zones and protects vulnerable road users when turning or changing lanes, and are functional for all fleet applications.
TAS includes:
BSD – Blind Spot Alert during turning within city – visual & acoustic alert
BSD-PLCI – BSD blind spot information during lance change on highway
