Campout in September

Ryan’s Cove at Stone Lagoon, Sept. 10-11

Mendocino trip impressions: Great camping and kayak trip!

“My first trip with the club and it didn't disappoint! The Mendocino coast has been on my bucket list for paddling destinations for some time, I have seen pictures and videos of the caves and rock formations online so I was really looking forward to it. Pictures and videos don’t do justice to actually being there and experiencing it first hand. This trip ended up being a fantastic couple of days exploring sea caves, passage ways, tunnels, and blowholes. I even found myself surfing through a narrow slot section and helping Mike Z. demonstrate a proper T-rescue! Mendocino offered something for everyone and every skill level, the weather was mild and the water was crystal clear. When not on the water the fun didn’t stop, pot-luck and story time with Scott, horseshoes and games at the campground, to wandering around Fort Bragg and Mendocino. The weekend went way too fast, and I'm already looking forward to the next trip! ” ~ Jeff P

“The timing for the campout was perfect for a number of reasons, Covid cases had dropped, weather was great and the water conditions were near perfect to explore the coastal shorelines, headlands, caves and rivers that Mendocino has to offer. Scott Hagerty who took the lead organizing the event deserves a big thank you for putting it all together.” ~ Larry B

“Getting out in the ocean and paddling through those tunnels and into a cave or two at Russian Gulch were real highlights for me. Mike and Larry were wonderful guides, as always, and it was extra special to have Sergei, one of the elite Tsunami Rangers, show us his favorite spots to the north.” ~ Kathleen K-L
