Artist Baseballs To Be Auctioned During July 21 St. Paul Saints Game
The St. Paul Art Collective, in collaboration with the St. Paul Saints, is hosting an Art Baseball Auction on Monday, July 21 at 7:05 p.m. at Midway Stadium when the Saints take on the Sioux Falls Canaries. Tickets are $9.00 each and include the game and the opportunity to bid on the baseballs featured in the recent "Art of Baseballs" exhibit.
The artisan baseballs were on public display at the Union Depot during the Spring Saint Paul Art Crawl and the Metro Transit Green Line Opening Celebration. The Saints donated 108 baseballs to Minnesota artists who created 76 one of a kind works of art later judged by members of the Saints and the Office of the Mayor of the City of Saint Paul in final jury selection for the exhibit, “The Art of Baseballs.” The baseballs will be available for sale during a silent auction at the July 21 Saints game. Collectors may also have a chance to meet the artist who created the baseball they purchase.
"The 'Art of Baseballs' exhibit was overwhelmingly popular with the public at both the Art Crawl and Green Line events,” stated St. Paul Art Collective President Tom Dunn. Vice President Tom Reynen added, ”This is a chance for art collectors and fans of Minnesota artists to own a unique piece of work."
Forty percent of each baseball sold will go directly to the creating artist. Proceeds from ticket sales and the auction will benefit members and programs of the St. Paul Art Collective. These programs currently include the biannual Saint Paul Art Crawl, monthly Lowertown First Fridays and the Lowertown Feasibility study.
Tickets to this special St. Paul Art Collective night can be purchased online at www.stpaulartcollective.org or at the AZ Gallery in Lowertown’s Northern Warehouse, 308 Prince Street, on July 10 & 11 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and July 12 & 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The St. Paul Art Collective has been the voice of artists in Lowertown since 1977. The St. Paul Saints are moving into their new home, the Lowertown Ballpark, in spring of 2015.
