Call for Menorah Installation at VCA!

Menorahs at Vashon Center for the Arts 2020
VCA will once again display menorahs in the tall windows of the Kay White building. These ritual items are varied in style and together make a beautiful artistic installation.
If you would like to contribute your menorah for display,
here are the details:
  • Deliver to VCA, November 19 – 21, from 12noon – 4:00pm
  • Menorahs will be on display November 30th to December 9th
  • You can pick up your menorahs December 9th or 10th anytime between 12-4pm so you will have them in time for your family holiday.
  • Please delivery your menorah with nine (9) candles that fit, as they will be displayed with unlit candles. In order for the candles to fit properly we ask that you clean out last season’s candle wax from the candle holder.
If you have any questions, contact is Lynann Politte, VCA Gallery Directory, or Risa Stahl

Choose Democracy and Protect the Results
The Havurah board has unanimously signed onto a pledge from Vashon faith groups to protect our democracy after the November 3rd election should there be a power grab and attempted coup. We encourage every Havurah member to exercise your civic duty to vote in the elections. Please also consider signing a pledge that you will do everything in your power if a coup is attempted in this country.

Here is the pledge we signed:

"In a climate of uncertainty about whether the election results will be accepted by the sitting president, Vashon Faith Leaders affirm our commitment to speak up in defense of our democracy and our most vulnerable communities. The election process must be free from intimidation and the threat of violence. All votes must be counted. No premature declaration of victory. The peaceful transfer of power, if that is what the election results mandate, is an absolute necessity. Any threat to free and fair elections imperils all of us; and each and every one of us must act to protect our democracy and one another at this perilous time. Multiple efforts are underway both nationally and locally to respond to this threat. We encourage you to explore action appropriate for you and your organization.

Here are two options you may consider:

First, take the Choose Democracy pledge at

Next, sign up for our Vashon event on November 4th to protect the results at"

The Havurah also signed onto a similar statewide declaration. You can read that pledge here and also sign on as individuals. We encourage everyone to do so.
