Why Lay Led This Year?

Vashon Havurah recently learned that for personal reasons, the Rabbi we contracted is no longer able to lead this year's high holy day services. The Ritual Committee has been meeting several times a week for the last several weeks to put together a meaningful holiday experience for our community.

Many of you are aware that the Havurah movement started off in the 60s as an alternative to formal rabbinical services, and that is the root and origins of our Havurah. This year, we return to our roots with lay led, community involved services while offering services led by Kavana Cooperative as a supplement for those that would like a more traditional approach.

We hope that you, our community, will support us in this endeavor with your engagement, involvement and love. It is a chance for a more personalized holiday experience; please come and share your experience, thoughts, intentions, and love with us as we transition into and create a new year together.

L'Shana Tova,

Suzanne Greenberg and the Ritual Committee
Louise Olsen, Alice Bloch and Julea Gardner
