Dear friends — the island Interfaith Council to Prevent Homelessness offers a free community dinner every night, all year long. During the pandemic the daily dinners have changed from indoor social events at various churches to a simple takeout meal at the Methodist church.
For many years the Havurah community has provided a special Christmas dinner as a service of tikkun olam, repairing the world.
Of course, 2020 is different!
For everyone's safety, the Council decided that it would be best for their regular staff to prepare the Christmas meal. They welcome financial support from the Jewish community for a premium dinner-to-go on both Xmas Eve and Xmas Day.
Thriftway and Vashon Market IGA are generously supporting our effort with donations of food. We are also calling on the Havurah community to make individual donations.
Each $18 contribution will help purchase food, compostable containers, and miscellaneous supplies, as well as support the daily interfaith effort to make sure that no islander goes hungry.
The Havurah will aggregate your donations as a significant contribution to the Interfaith Council meals program.
