What a welcome back to football Saturday was versus Wantirna South.  Congratulations to the whole club on a very successful round one for the 2018 season in division 2.

The weather was perfect, the crowd was out to support in numbers and in voice, and we got to witness a heart-wrenching finish in our senior's match which went our way and made for a great day. The unfurling of 3 flags prior to each match was well received by the huge crowd. We'd like to acknowledge Ged Hewitt's organisation of this event, along with Dave Phillipsen's MC'ing-Thanks guys.

U19s Program Growing
There were so many highlights or round one across all 4 teams - that's right, all 4 teams. For the first time ever, our U19's program has fielded a second team - coached by Simon McAuliffe. Congratulations to Weeksy, Kev George, Mark Lowther and the group of parents who worked hard to get this up and running for 2018. It not only allows so many more boys to play football with the Sharks at a senior level, but it also allows them to play with their mates.

Skippers 100th - First ever for the Sharks.
We had another first at the club Saturday.  It was our Skipper, Tom Feher's 100 senior football match for the Sharks.  He is the first ever player in our short history to achieve this wonderful milestone.  It was celebrated on Thursday night briefly, but Ged Hewitt gave a wonderful speech on behalf of all our club post-match to honour Tom's achievement where we presented him with a medallion and the match day ball that all the players got to sign.  On behalf of the whole club Tom - we are proud of you, we are grateful for your leadership, and couldn't think of anyone better to have achieved this milestone first for our club -  well done.

New Players
We'd like to welcome all the new players and their families to the club for the 2018 season.  We value our short history, the families involved and we work very hard as a club to keep a strong culture of acceptance and ALL-IN.  From our new players from our Colts program to the friends that players brought along to play with the Sharks this year, all the way through to the new recruits we've targeted and landed to help our transition into division two - welcome to each and every one of you.  It was great to see you all out there Saturday and we hope you've enjoyed the transition in and the successful day we had on the park.
It was wonderful to see so many people Saturday working on gates, bbq's and the match day roles that helped our day operate so well.  Our new players were involved, families were there to help, and the youngsters were out in their droves.

Our next home game is Saturday, April 21st - our ANZAC Day round.  Please look to book a ticket to our ANZAC Day luncheon which will be a little more laid back and something for us all to enjoy.  This starts at 12 pm and tickets are available now online.  It would be good to see all our community come up to the luncheon and please feel free to invite some friends.  It will be a standup lunch, with some entertainment and interview panel - all enjoyed under the Domeney marquee in the beautiful Park Orchards weather.  We have invited our whole community to get involved to join us for the traditional ANZAC Day ceremony prior to the senior's match at 2 pm.  This is traditionally a very special day in the football clubs calendar and I'm sure it will be something for us all not to miss.  We are looking forward to the Auskickers coming to play a part in the day as well as playing a grid match at halftime.  See you all up there.

This week, we venture out to the foothills to battle against an old rival - Upper Ferntree Gully who won the premiership the year prior to us and had a season last year in division 2.  It will be a great gauge to see where we are at and to see the improvements from last time we battled it out.

Finally, I'd like to make mention of a couple of key sponsors each week.  Starting with our loyal major sponsor - John Hoskins and Hoskins Premium Property People.  John's generosity and support towards our club has been magnificent.  If you have a home you are looking to sell, or you are looking for a property to buy, give John a call. I can vouch for John and his team who are first class in delivering you the results you want. He just sold my home and I couldn't speak any more glowingly of his team and the result they achieved for me and my family - Thanks John.

Our newest sponsor to the Shark Tank is Doncaster Mitre 10 Trade Centre.  Calling all tradies - Matt, Ian & Steve have jumped onboard to support Park Orchards Football Netball Club and we would like you to support them where possible.  One of the myths and misconceptions we'd like to help  Doncaster Mitre 10 Trade Centre smash is the ability they have to compete on their prices.  If their service relates to your business or profession, please do yourself a favour and make a time to get down to meet the guys.  They've promised our club that they would look after you.

Welcome to the Park Orchards FNC community Doncaster Mitre 10 Trade Centre, and thanks for your support for the 2018 season.

Go Sharks - ALL-IN 2018

We encourage all Sharks supporters and the community to get down to some games this year and interact with every aspect of our all-inclusive, diverse club!

As for all Clubs, volunteers are extremely valuable and always required, even more so in the case of relatively new clubs.
We still need assistance with:

  • Memberships
  • Fundraising
  • Football Operations
  • Home Game Operations
  • Social Events/Bar
  • Equipment & Grounds
  • Merchandise & Apparel

For game day – we will be rostering player families on to help fulfil the roles needed on game day.

If you would like to become a  'ALL IN" Shark in 2018 and would like to volunteer a small amount of your time, please call:
