From the President

What a huge day for local football last Saturday was.  A top 4 crowd attendance mark, 3 wins from 4 games showing that we can mix it with Division 2 clubs, the launch of our Premiership Heathcote Shiraz, and a magnificent community football atmosphere enjoyed by all.  For those who didn't make it up to the Shark Tank last Saturday, the scores are recorded below and show the community that Park Orchards Football is well and truly on the rise.

Park Orchards North Ringwood Parish Sharks Junior Football Club

With so much local talent running around on the field each Saturday and the development of so many more Colts and u19's to come through, Sharks Football is as healthy as it has ever been.  Ritchie Appleby and his Junior Football Club committee work tirelessly to provide a family friendly, competitive and inclusive environment for so many footballers to develop and enjoy their football.  Through hard work and solid partnerships which keep our clubs rolling together, we are the beneficiaries of so many quality young men each year that choose to continue playing their football with Park Orchards.  And it doesn't sound too far away until this will include a Senior Sharks Womens football team.  As a senior club, it is important to acknowledge and be grateful for the work of our junior club and their leadership, the history they have created for us all, and to take on the responsibility to continue the great work that has been invested into these young men and women.  To our Sharks Junior Football Club Committee, Coaches, Volunteers, Parents and Players - thanks for partnering your senior club and for everything you do to make us two successful clubs under the one umbrella.

We shouldn't ever leave out our Park Orchards Auskickers too. Under the leadership of Michael James, Auskick is going from strength to strength and the kids are coming in their droves to play Sharks football.  Michael and the coaches are incredible partners of our Senior club. They can often be found supporting the senior club teams and running a few half-time grid games each year for the boys and girls to enjoy.  We are a blessed club for guys like Michael - thanks for all the hard work you do.

Club Fundraiser

The club has decided to venture into creating, designing and selling its own Heathcote Shiraz - Quadruple Vintage Premiership. The wine was carefully selected after trialling many reds, from many regions, to call our own. The idea is simple, it's a nod and a wink well done for the extraordinary outcome of our 2017 Football and Netball Seasons, with 3 football premierships and our first ever Netball premiership (which is where we got the name Quadruple Vintage Premiership).

Please get behind this initiative and order yourself a case (6 bottles) for $120.  Similar wines retail for over $32 a bottle so come and get yourself a bargain, all whilst supporting our club and picking yourself up a piece of our history.

Adrian Riccioni and his team at RNG Lawyers have been loyal supporters of our senior club for many years now. Not only have they been financially very generous, but they have also helped the club on a practical level in many situations where we have needed legal services.
Adrian and his family are great Park Orchards people and we appreciate their partnership of our football and netball club.
If you, your family or your friends ever need any legal advice, Adrian and his team come highly recommended.  Don't hesitate to make contact with them on 9739 7377.
Thanks for your support Adrian.

Once again, thanks to everyone for their support of our club in helping us get the season started. We are really pleased with the clubs transition into Division 2, the birth of a second u19's team and the introduction of many new faces into our club, including coaches, players and volunteers.

If there is one thing we could leave with you to think about until our next home game, on the 5th May v Mitcham: If you are not involved at our club in any way - we need your help!
There are so many gaps we try to fill each week, which can be especially hard being such a young club! We are still trying to fill two key roles vital for our club to function well. Head Bar-person and a 2IC Bar-person. Both Doc O'Conner and David Philipsen were stalwarts behind the bar for several years and did this role so well.  On behalf of the club, thanks guys for your time, efforts, energy and fantastic service you put into this important part of our club. We are on the hunt for our new Doc & it YOU?  Please give Jeremy or Colin a call if you are available in any way for game day support.

We are looking forward to introducing our supporters to our players, where starting next week we will profile a senior/reserve and u19's player each week for the rest of the season.

Saturday - away versus Lilydale.... see you there!
Go Sharks!
