We did it - History has been written....
3 from 3

If you haven't heard, if you haven't seen, if you wondered why - Park Orchards was littered in RED WHITE and BLACK, up the streets, on letter boxes, on power poles and splashed all across our local shops - The Park Orchards Senior Football Club had all 3 teams participate in the EFL division 3 grand final last Sunday.  It was a wonderful thing to be a part of our little town the week leading up with everyone jumping onboard the opportunity to create history for our club.

A huge thanks and a well done goes out to our whole community for the support of so many families, businesses and friends - it was a fun ride towards the finals.

NOT 1, NOT 2, but 3 Flags - and what was extra special was the first ever Senior Premiership in the 6 year history.  It was a day for our whole community to celebrate and enjoy 3 amazing achievements and something that will be talked about in our club forever.
3 flags from 3 teams (u19's, Reserves and Seniors) has only ever been achieved 7 times in history, and it was the first time in Division 3 - so this was very special.

The night was celebrated by many and the praise came in from so many people and groups.  The Park Orchards Lions Club jumped on the BBQ to feed the tummies, The Steelers Basketball Presentation was going on at the same time, but they stopped (300+ players and parents) to send a video message of encouragement, shop owners were sending messages of congratulations, the Cricket Club, Tennis Club and families from all over our community sent messages of congratulations to their Football Club.  This was a proud moment for our whole community.
You can tell what sort of club we have when you see our major sponsor John Hoskins cooking for our hungry footballers on arrival back to the clubrooms, and good people from all over our community chipping in to make this night a celebration.

Park Orchards Community....Thank You

Behind every flag, there is an army of believers and so many people to be grateful for.  From the inaugural committee and coaches, through to stalwarts that have been there since day one, and every other jigsaw piece in-between that got us to Sunday - to you all....thank you for being a part of the history-making achievement on Sunday - we did it.

Words will never do justice to the range of emotions that erupted in us all on Sunday when that siren went and we were the EFL Division 3 Champions.  To see our Sharks Community happy, proud, and know that we had achieved something so difficult to capture was something I would love to bottle forever.  But what we do have is this amazing memory of that one day we won 3 flags and took out our first senior premiership, and we did it ALL-IN.
It's crazy to try and pinpoint a highlight on a day so special but a moment in time that many people will remember and always talk about is when we grabbed all three teams at the end of the day on the ground, including supporters and committee and belted out our song as one.  It was a really proud moment that will be with me forever.

You've probably noticed, we haven't mentioned one name in this communication to thank them.  We've done this along the journey throughout the last 3 years and we have a strong culture of contributors that we celebrate weekly.   What's important to communicate at this time of the year, at this moment in time with the History of what has been achieved, is that the success is all of ours.  It truly has been a team effort of 7 years of hard work, mateship, true community spirit and real grit from every person who put their hand up to be a part of the journey.

Division 2 here we come

The dust is starting to settle and the celebrations have gone on for 3 days, but we have 3 more commitments and special nights for the club to complete this season:  The EFL Chandler Medal tonight, the Vote Count Thursday night, and the Presentation Night next Thursday.  After that, it's onwards and upwards towards next season and Division 2.  What does this mean for the Sharks?

Next season we move into a new division with new opposition and look forward to the new challenges, new football grounds to play on with this wonderful group of footballers and support group.  Our club fielded 14 of 22 players on Sunday's senior game that was birthed out of our junior program.  We will stay integral to this focus and continually build on the development of our wonderful junior program, whilst putting around these young men, outstanding leadership and the support we need to sustain success and go to the next level.  We look forward to these challenges in the coming weeks as we seek to take a breather, reset and get ready to go again next season.

But wait, there is more

Our successful Sharks Netball program has gone from strength to strength this season and not gone unnoticed among our supporters.  Once again, we'd like to congratulate our group of girls and those that support the program we have in place and bring attention to the Division 4 team who took out our first Sharks Netball Premiership - well-done girls.
Please join us for the Sharks 2017 Vote count evening where we will present round by round the votes for best on each game. This year POFNC will complete ALL Home & Away, and Final vote counts in one night for:
  • Under 19's
  • Reserves

Please invite all supporters and POFNC supporters along to what will be a great night!
