Are women really earning only 77 cents for every dollar that a man earns? Maybe. There's still some discussion about where that line should be drawn, but reasonable people can agree that there is a wage equality gap. And when it comes to sports, that gap is even wider.  


In the wake of their triumph at the Women’s World Cup last year, five members of the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team recently filed a discrimination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Not only are their salaries 40 percent of what their male counterparts are paid, but the World Cup prize money distributed by FIFA to the women’s team is just $2 million while the men’s team splits $35 million.
