What's Going on at The Vocal School

OCTOBER 5, 2019 8:30am - 10:30am

"Arts and Health collide at the Annual Frisco Arts Walk & Run." For the first time, The Vocal School will be participating in this great event alongside local art schools and businesses. We're excited to showcase just a few of our amazing artists in this neighborhood fun-filled day at Hall Park.

Be sure to come out and partake in the fun and excitement—food trucks, visual and interactive arts. Let's not forget the 5k that'll be happening that morning. Run if you must, just don't miss The Vocal School performers during the event. Times and stage location information aren't yet available, but we will send it out as we get it.

Master Class Fall 2019 - Spring 2020

As an example— in 28 lessons the Oscar, Golden Globe, Tony, and Emmy Award winner, Helen Mirren, teaches her process for acting on the stage and screen. Just one of the many performing artists you will have access to. It will be like having a guest speaker in class—tailored just for you.

With lessons that are titled Human Behavior, Techniques part 1, 2, and 3; On Set Collaboration; Voice and Character and so much more you're sure to shake things up a bit.

As an added value to TVS students for 2019-2020, we will together, learn from those who do it day in and day out.
Hannah Hoffman: Winnifred; NTPA Plano
This issue's featured student is Hannah Hoffman. The 15 year old beautiful and talented Hoffman attacks the stage and seldom looks back. Here, Hoffman's playing the lead role as Winnifred in the 1959 original off-Broadway production of Once Upon a Mattress.
Beginners Tip:
What: Body alignment is crucial to proper sound production. Proper alignment allows for your much-needed breath-flow to course the body without blocks and stops. It also presents your best look— tall, confident, and tells the world that you have a touch of class and self-awareness. It's the body you want to have when you're competing against the best. People with good posture stand-out in the crowd.

How: Place your ears over your shoulders.  Yup, that's it. wink-wink!
Corley's Corner:
Hello students and parents. I'm glad to share another year of voice learning, stage presentation, and techniques with you at the highest level with no excuses. I'm committed to excellence and happy that you are too. I promise it will pay off.

As many of you know I'm a Frisco NTPA Governing Board member along with several of our "smart", stylish, and wonderful parents. As a board member, I was able to procure dibs on a picture space inside the upcoming and brand-new NTPA Frisco Performance Theatre.

The picture will be up for 2 years, at which point if the Lord will, I will renew. I will work with my board and students to decide criteria for whose face or maybe even faces will go up in the space on a quarterly basis. Be a part of Frisco History as patrons and citizens come and go for a time to come at the Nack. To hear more about the picture-space sponsorship go to the following link and begin at 1:32:https://www.facebook.com/NTPAFrisco/videos/389643898642922/

TVS is a partner to NTPA, and I'm also proud of that. As a partner, I'd like to offer you, our audience, the opportunity to donate to making the Nack a reality. For more information about the 45 day sprint of reaching 100K go to:https://northtexasperformingarts.org/supportfrisco/

I believe the spots were meant for children of parents. Well, TVS is my baby, and I'm proud of what I do. I'm also proud of you who fight through every audition and performance. I was there once, and I know all about pushing-through.

I'm looking forward to being with you all this fall. Stay tuned for more information as we ease on down the road.
