HP Fire Department's Pancake Breakfast Raises Funds for the HPCF!

The Highland Park Fire Department opened its doors to the entire community on October 6th for its 5th annual Pancake Breakfast and Open House.  It was a great success, with over 750 children and adults in attendance!

We are most grateful to the Fire Department for having selected the HPCF as the beneficiary of this year’s Breakfast proceeds. “We were excited to pick the Foundation as the recipient,” said Chief Amidei. “The HPCF does great work in the community, helping as many organizations as they can.”

Thank you, Chief Amidei, and all of the men and women in your Department!
In the spring, we introduced you to our Associate Leadership Council (ALC). We are very excited now to share information about their first Family Volunteer Project!
For questions or to participate in the project, contact Taryn Kessel, ALC Chairman, at tarynkessel@hotmail.com

Meet Our Board Liaisons!
The HPCF is very fortunate to have three Board liaisons who inform us about and connect us to the community in numerous ways. We are very grateful for the ways in which they help us better serve our community.
Debby Finn joined Township High School District 113 in 1996. Throughout her tenure, she has been heavily involved as a committee leader, staff representative, and student activities sponsor. She assumed the role of Interim Principal in July 2018 and was selected to serve as Principal of Highland Park High School in the spring of 2019. Throughout her career, she has supported many programs that benefit District 113 students, staff, and the community. Specifically, she has acted as the liaison for Working Together, one of the programs sponsored by the Highland Park Community Foundation, which provides families of Highwood and Highland Park with access to cultural and recreational activities.
Alyssa Knobel is a two-term Highland Park City Councilwoman. Outside of her work on behalf of the community, she is a marketing and communication consultant to business, government, political campaigns, and not-for-profit agencies, and volunteers for numerous civic and charitable organizations.  Jewish Council for Youth Services named Alyssa as a Director for Life in May 2014 and, in 2018, the HPCF recognized Alyssa with the HPCF's Jack Blane Community Service Award. Alyssa holds a BS in Communications from Boston University and began her career in advertising at McCann-Erickson. She and her husband Jeremy and two children reside in Highland Park.
Kevin Ryan is the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning at North Shore School District 112. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing curriculum, instruction, and assessment to improve student growth and success. Dr. Ryan received his EdD from Illinois State University in educational leadership, his master’s degree in educational leadership from DePaul University, and a bachelor’s degree from Florida Southern College in business administration.
The Highland Park Community Foundation addresses the unmet needs of our community and expands opportunities for all Highland Park and Highwood residents. We envision an inclusive, well-rounded, and vibrant community where residents' lives are enriched through our philanthropic efforts.
