CEDA UPDATE SEPTEMBER - Members and associates edition

Dear <<First Name>>

This months welcome is from Michael Hibbert - Vice President CEDA (and Yarra Ranges Tourism Board Member)
Yarra Ranges Tourism launched its 3 year strategic plan to a full house on Monday at Meletoes Yarra Valley.
With 3 and 4 year funding from Visit Victoria and Yarra Ranges Council respectively, now committed and with new CEO Simon O'Callaghan at the helm, timing was perfect for the launch of the Strategic Plan which provides a blueprint for the way forward.
It also paves the way for the one year Action Plan and Marketing Plan to be put in place giving industry and key stake holders a clear outline of YRT's goals and aspirations for 2016 to 2019.
If the numbers in the room were any indication it would be fair to say industry participation and support for YRT is at a new high and a sense of unity and optimism abounds. The Strategic Plan can be found by visiting  www.yarrarangestourism.com.au/three-year-strategic-plan/

The night was also memorable due to the announcement that Yarra Ranges Tourism Board Chair Mark Lucas will leave this post on Friday having worked tirelessly as board member and Chair over the past 4 years. (Marks leadership and commitment over this time has ensured Simon and the team at YRT, the board and key stake holders were well supported and informed at all times and) he will be sorely missed. We wish to extend our sincerest thanks to Mark for his support over the years and wish him well in his future endeavours.

Thanks Michael.

Kind regards,
Peta Godenzi

MARKETING NEWS
CEDA makes front page news
As part of our advocacy role to promote business and tourism opportunities in the broader Warburton Valley we have maintained a close interest in the development plans of the Sanitarium also known as the Edgewater Resort in Warburton. After years of delays and a further 6 months of inactivity, the developers have recently responded to our enquiries via the Upper Yarra Mail.  To read the full story see the
link here:
To quote Peta Godenzi from the article: “‘We need to be planning the future for all our businesses and an important part of this is having the right infrastructure for accommodation and tourism services in place,” she said.
“We have always considered the Edgewater development to be of primary importance to this bigger tourism picture but right now, our businesses and our people deserve to be kept better informed about this development.’

We will continue to monitor this situation.

OUTDOOR TOURISM AND CYCLING NEWS
TRAIL MAPPING PROJECT - GREAT NEWS - CEDA is pleased to announce it has engaged the services of a professional trail mapping service to develop comprehensive written, image and video references for more than 10 top trails in our valley. This will provide much needed documentation of the the trail assets we have in the valley for residents and visitors, and allow us to present our Adventure tourism offer to the world in a much more professional way.
Trails will include those suitable for walking, running and cycling and we will also be able to include some river based trails for canoeing and paddling on the Yarra River. We are grateful to Yarra Ranges Toruism and the Warburotn and Yarra Junction Community banks for funding support for this activity.

THE DIRTY DOZEN event attracted almost 100 riders last Sunday. While numbers were a little under expectations due to the weather, those that participated had exceptional feedback about the ride and climb opportunities in our beautiful valley.
GIRO DELLA DONNA  November 27 is expecting 3000 competitors! A huge event for the Warburton Valley.

The next EVERESTING event is now confirmed to he held in March 2017. This is wonderful news and a large event that provides international exposure. More details to follow.
