CEDA UPDATE NOVEMBER - Members and associates edition

Dear <<First Name>>

Hello everyone and welcome to spring...finally! Thank you to everybody who attended our AGM last week. Its was a wonderful evening with 30 people enjoying a great meal at one of the Warburton Valley's premier venues - Projekt 3488. Thanks to Mark and Sandy for their hospitality. (Images below)
During the formal part of the evening we appointed our new committee. Thank you to those who have returned to positions, and also to the new committee members who have come on board.
Our new CEDA committee members are :
Peta Godenzi (President), Michael Hibbert (Vice President, CEDA representative at YRT), Geoff Vickers (Secretary/Treasurer), Patrick O'Shannassey, Les Lasham, Belinda Evans, David Borton, Darren Evans, Phil Wallens, Dale Feim, Alison Fitzgerald, Cleo Silva and Leanne Nicholls.
Warburton Valley CEDA committee members belong to the local community. All committee positions are voluntary and members represent a diverse range of interests, businesses and aptitudes, all of which contribute to a dynamic and innovative team.

Many 'take home' points  were provided by Yarra Ranges Tourism CEO Simon O'Callaghan in his presentation to us.
  • The most significant reason people visit the Yarra Valley is to catch up with family and friends
  • The growth of the Chinese tourism market will provide plenty of opportunities (Did you know only 4% of people from China hold a passport so the growth potential is significant.)
  • Yarra Ranges Tourism marketing will be focusing  on the 'families' demographic for tourism/visitation (not DINKS and SINKS)
  • Cycling and outdoor tourism is a key drawcard for visitation to the region - and we have a definite advantage over other regions given our unique topography and setting
The key date to remember for November is the upcoming GIRO DELLA DONNA on November 27. More than 1200 participants  are expected (support crews and spectators will further add to numbers). We've worked super close with the organisers, who are committed to supporting local businesses, community groups (payments to volunteers) and residents (through managed road closures). See below for more details.

Enjoy the sunshine!
Kind regards,
Peta Godenzi
