I am pleased to let you know that we are planning our first CEDA networking opportunity. Please pop Wednesday 20 August in your diary for an evening of fine food and good connections! CEDA members are invited to gather at the Warburton Curry Club and enjoy a special menu with Jimmy and his team for $15 per head. (Drinks can also be purchased or BYO on the night).
An official invite will be sent shortly with all the details you need to make your booking but in the meantime save the date - we hope to see you there.

Diary Notes
  • The next Warburton Valley CEDA meeting is 28 August 2014 at 10am in the boardroom at the Warburton Community Bank. Members may attend and should RSVP to this email address. Alternatively you can  submit any questions or comments in writing for the committee.              

CEDA works 

Seeking Traders subcommittee for CEDA - we are looking for members to form town based subcommittees to represent traders in the valley. If you would like to know more, please contact Geoff at CEDA@upperyarra.net.au

At the Visitor Information Centre:
  • Our application for a  Liquor Licence has progressed though the public notice stage and we are now waiting to hear from the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liqour Regulation. 
  • More than thirteen local artists and groups have expressed interest in taking exhibition space in the Waterwheel Gallery. 
A call out for anyone interested in being part of the Christmas decoration committee to work with key towns along the highway to create a Christmas street presence for December. Please contact us if you would like to be involved.

Great Steps of Warburton - a new tourist destination
The Great Steps of Warburton community mosaic project is now installed on the main street leading up to the Waterwheel and is attracting great attention. An official opening will be held on Friday 15 August at noon at The Steps, so please come along and celebrate. Thanks to all the CEDA members who were involved in this terrific community building project. We now have a wonderful tourist attraction that visitors and residents alike are excited about.

Silva Coffee  

Silva coffee is an award winning family owned roastery set in Warburton among the towering gums in the mountains of the Yarra Valley. Proprietors Wayne and Cleo Silva now have a a customer base of almost thirty fine local restaurants and cafes, and Silva Coffee has captured a share of a highly competitive market. They have received several awards to acknowledge their bean bending skills, roasting expertise and customer service including a recent silver medal for their Encore blend in the espresso category in this year’s RASV Australian International Coffee Awards. Silva Coffee  also offer their conventional, organic, rainforest alliance and fairtade coffees for wholesale and retail sales online. Anyone with the 3799 postcode can use this code online (3799) to purchase coffee and get free delivery to their home. They also have a mobile take-away coffee cart service available for events and markets. With a new roasting machine en route from Portugal, and a new logo and website about to be launched, Silva Coffee are a great example of business done well among our members.

Google Alerts: Know who is talking about you

Would you like to know when you are mentioned online? Nowdays many people blog or write reviews on their experiences and media outlets use many online tools to publish their stories. Putting up a Google Alert on your business name will ensure you receive an email right to your nominated inbox any time your 'alert term' is published. (You can also  specify how often you are notified, and for what types of entires.) And beyond your own business name you can set up alerts of search terms related to your industry, your own name, even those of your competitors if that is useful. see www.google.com/alerts to start your set up (you'll need a Google login). See your events everywhere with one simple post

Don't forget to upload your events on Events Victoria. This is the main events site for Victoria and information is drawn from this site onto more than 50 other tourism and business websites. It's an essential way to get maximum exposure on all the major tourism sites.

The BEAR project - update  
A trial survey has now been circulated to six local business and results are being collated.  Our next step is to distribute the survey to a broader range of members. We will send via email so keep an eye out. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated and the results will be collated and shared to benefit our valley.

Learn about how you can promote your business online for next to zero cost! This FREE workshop will be held on Thursday 12 August between 6pm and 8pm at the council offices in Liiydale. Click here to find out more and to register.

What can I do? Three by three things this month

  1. Set up a Google Alert on your business name or organisation.
  2. Let it SNOW! For daily snow reports see Warburtoninfo.com and be prepared for lots of visitors to our valley and the increased associated business.
  3. Make sure you come along to our networking event at Warburton Curry Club and meet fellow CEDA members. We want to encourage cross-promotions and the spirit of working together to help make our valley prosperous.
