CEDA NEWS MARCH- Members and associates edition

Dear

We started the year with a very well attended committee meeting and would like to extend our thanks to the following guests for their attendance and input: Cindy McLeish MP, Cr Jim Child and local trader Valda Street. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on the key achievements CEDA has made in conjunction with its members and affirm our strength in advocacy for some of the big picture activities that are underway to benefit our valley.

NEW Traders Group - Wednesday 18 March at 6.30 PM at The Pantry Warburton - Valissa Enever from The Pantry Warburton would like to establish a LOCAL Traders group of  main street businesses in our towns. The plan is to meet bi-monthly in the evening with a moving location so all towns can be covered. We would love existing members to get on board and use this forum to raise your suggestions to the CEDA committee as we work hand in hand to build our tourism and business offer. Please indicate your intention to participate by texting Valissa on 0404 996 834.

Kind regards,
Peta Godenzi
President - Warburton Valley CEDA

A message from Dale Feim on ATO scam
There has been an aggressive ATO phone scam around for about a year now targeting businesses and personal taxpayers in the outer eastern region and Warburton Valley.  What is concerning of late is that I have been made aware of still quite a few business and personal taxpayers being caught-out by this scam.  The caller impersonates an ATO officer and threatens jail or arrest if they don’t receive immediate payment for a fake tax debt.  They also try and convince you to reveal personal financial details over the phone or via SMS.  These calls can be quite intimidating and confronting but please remember the following things;
  • the ATO never cold call about a tax debt
  • they never threaten jail or arrest
  • and ATO officers don’t behave in an aggressive manner
  • and they never request personal or financial information by SMS or email.
If you are concerned about providing personal information over the phone, you should ask the caller’s name and phone them back through the ATO’s general phone number 13 28 69.  If you think you have been caught-out by a scam you can contact the ATO on 1800 060 062.
Thank you Dale  and Dalcorp Financial Services  for this advice. Dale  is able to assist local businesses with all their financial needs. He can be contacted on 03 5967 1312

Website relaunch and NEW Events Victoria site
In mid-December we rolled in a refreshed new look and improved function website at www.visitwarbuton.com.au - it's easier to search and navigate and great visual appeal. Please take a moment to check the dedicated member page that has been set up for your business or enterprise and let us know if there are any changes to text, contact details or new photos you would like in place by emailing Lindy Schneider  email here.
Last month also saw some changes to the Events Victoraia platform with it being rolled into the ATDW.com.au website family. This has meant some small changes to the way events are uploaded so we are attaching a step-by-step guide to help you with the transition.
In order to get the maximum online exposure for your business and your events it is highly recommend you take five minutes to log in and create your entries. You'll then see your events listed not only on visitwarburton.com.au 'What's on page but also on more than 50 other tourism and events websites...and it's all FREE.
