CEDA UPDATE JUNE - Members and associates edition

Dear <<First Name>>

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our membership base for all their support over the past year. Invoices for membership renewals have been sent via email to you this week and we welcome your ongoing support. We also welcome back any lapsed members who would like to join again and trust that the good work that we have been doing over the past few years has more than proven the benefit membership brings not only to your individual businesses but also to our towns and communities as a whole. For a summary of member packages and benefits available click here.
We are moving forward with many new exciting developments and are proud of our achievements to date which include The Waterwheel and and high level advocacy for developments such as the cycling hub and other activities in our towns.
At our next committee meeting we will also be developing a Strategic Plan and seeking the input of all our stakeholders to guide the future of CEDA, our priorities and best practices to represent our members. We look forward to reporting to you on these developments and making things happen!

We've also decided to move our monthly meeting time ongoing to 10am (was 3pm)  to increase the accessibility of this meeting. Our June meeting will be focused on our Strategic Planning task.

Kind regards,
Peta Godenzi

With winter now upon us, and the official opening of snow season imminent, we're already getting loads of messages and posts on our Facebook page VISIT WARBURTON (link here) asking where and when there is snow. In addition to our snow information pages on our website, we will also be posting regular updates on our FB page when the snow falls, what the conditions are like and any other relevant information. Our FB page is the offical source for snow information for the area and we have our 'man on the mount' Terry the Toboggan Man who will be providing us with exclusive updates so we can keep everyone posted with the best information. Please Like our FB page if you haven't already done so, and recommend that your customers/clients/friends and relatives  do the same so they can be 'in the know about the snow!'

Cycling Events - advance notice
Terrific news: Dates for the Giro Della Donna have now been confirmed for Sat 26 and Sun 27 November 2016. The significance of this event gains further weight with the great news that Yarra Ranges Tourism have committed funding for this event to $15k for three years (an increase from $10K).
EVERESTING has also been confirmed for February 2017. The Dirty Dozen event will be held on a weekend to be confirmed in September 2016.
MEMBERSHIPS - CEDA and Yarra Ranges Tourism
Many CEDA members elect to also join Yarra Ranges Tourism and this year we have streamlined this process to make it as easy and cost effective as possible for our members to benefit from both. You can read more about the Yarra Ranges Tourism Membership program here and opt to pay your CEDA membership as part of your Yarra Ranges Tourism package.
Diary Date: 27/9  in Warburton - Models Ts coming to town
CEDA has been advised that on Tuesday 27 September, more than 150 Model T Fords will be travelling through the Warburton Valley and gathering on the Warburton Oval. Not only will this attract several hundred people to our towns, it is also a great chance to show off the best of what we have with the mountains and Yarra River as a backdrop. Main street traders can expect to be busy!
Our yearly calendar has been updated on the community website and will be progressively added to as events and dates are made available. Please let us know any events you would like added. To see more click here.

Farewell to members: Karalice, Warburton
'It has been a pleasure being part of CEDA and the Warburton community and we will certainly miss our cottage, the township and the region. I always hoped to have more involvement and to one day join the committee but time restraints and our ever busy Melbourne life didn’t seem to allow! I’ve loved watching tourism in the town grow and flourish over these past 5 years and those dedicated people involved in CEDA (and many other local initiatives) have done such a wonderful job.'  Sharon and David Rogers
A reminder about the wonderful opportunity that the ATDW (formerly Events Victoria) offer free in terms of promoting your events and activities. When you list your details on your will be populated onto more than 50 different news and activities websites including our own Whats On page and also the weekly Whats On emil from Yarra Ranges Tourism. This is exposure too good to miss out on.  This is a really effective way of building the profile of the entire valley so check out the website here  and get started today.

'One of our most effective partnerships is with the Warburton Valley Community Economic Development Association (CEDA). In fact, we share a common mission – that of advancing the economic prosperity of our towns. Community Economic Development is at the forefront of bringing about long term strategic advantage, not only for business but also for communities. CEDA advocates and facilitates ways of connecting communities and businesses, and embraces progress that has the community’s interests and needs as a driving force.
CEDA may be the new frontier when it comes to chambers of commerce but already there are significant achievements that have bought enormous value to our towns. The website and the Waterwheel precinct are made possible by CEDA with membership fees helping to fund ongoing operations. CEDA has also been an effective voice in bringing a range of exciting national cycling events (and people) to our towns and represents our community’s best interests on major projects such as the Mountain Bike Hub and the Warburton Recreation Precinct, and as a representative with Yarra Ranges Tourism. There is no doubt that CEDA contributes to big picture prosperity that benefits everyone and becoming a member is a great way to show your support.'
Our purpose statement:  'To promote sustainable economic development that enriches the lives of those who live in or have a close connection to the Warburton Valley and rely on its prosperity.'
