Student Success: The Journey Begins

"Every day I see students who have lost faith in themselves, but I also let them know that I believe in them.  That is where their journey begins." Meet Reading Specialist Katherine York who works with students at Walt Whitman Middle School in Fairfax, Virginia, and her student Tristan who has just completed his first book ever, Swing, by Kwame Alexander, and his plans to read more!
A Message to Tristan:
Check out a message to Tristan from Michael Burgess, narrator of Swing, acknowledging Tristan’s great accomplishment and encouraging him to continue his quest for great books about subjects he’s interested in.

Update: Building Books for Student Success

We did it! We raised over $100,000 thanks to you and your efforts. Now that our Volunteer Nation is 100% virtual more funds raised can help expand our reach and provide access to even more students who have a learning difference such as dyslexia and/or visual impairment. Thanks a bunch and stay up-to-date on how your time, talent and treasure impact the lives of struggling readers.

Tech Tips - Google Hangouts

Google Hangouts chat messages are still the best way to get immediate responses to your questions about training. It's also a great way to see who else is involved in volunteering with you. You'll be using chat functionality frequently in book production so take the time to get acquainted.

Listeners/Checkers

Do you love audiobooks? You could be a good “Listener” for Learning Ally. Help us deliver a positive audiobook experience for students. Highlight issues with fluency and tone, mispronunciations and audio quality.

Quality Assurance

Do you love technology? In the final step of the audiobook creation process, you will be playing back our books just like our students, and checking for anything that interferes with an enjoyable reading experience.
