Angels Newsletter December 2014
Dear Angels,

I can't thank you enough for your support in 2014 which has been another busy but successful year for the Angels.

This year we have been able to support a number of projects in Hong Kong, Cambodia and Indonesia thanks to your amazing generosity.

Thank you for supporting our Christmas fairs and buying our Christmas cards, decorations and necklaces. As a result we have again been able to provide Christmas dinners and a New Years celebration so children from all religions can enjoy the festive period in style! Thank you for making Christmas special for so many children, please see the following link for a special thank you from the Sunrise Children.

We wish you all a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Don't forget to save the date for our fantastic Zumbathon in January to kick start the New Year!

I hope you enjoy reading about our Angels visits, events and all the new projects we are able to fund because of your support and generosity. We couldn't do it without you - thank you.
With love,
Helen xxx

Raising and Roaring!

At the end of September, Angels for Orphans together with USRC Tigers, celebrated the rugby club’s new affiliation with the United Services Recreation Club with a fantastic evening of dining & dancing.

‘Raising’ our glasses and funds for underprivileged Asian children and ‘Roaring’ into the new sports season!

Great enjoyment was had by all (as you can see below!!!)

Most importantly, an incredible amount was raised through the auction & raffle. Over HKD$180,000!!!

Our thanks to all our sponsors, donors and of course our guests for making this possible. The money raised allows Angels for Orphans to be able to build two new much needed classrooms for Cambodian children as well as provide financial support to their students who have gone on to study at university.

Pan Asia Ceroc Championships

The first ever Pan Asia Ceroc Dance Championships took place in Hong Kong from 24-26 October 2014, raising HKD$31,320 from the Ceroc dancers and spectators who came from China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and of course Hong Kong.

The weekender was jam packed with activities: picnics, parties, workshops, dance performances, Champs heats, dance crawls, dim sum brunches and more...

There really was something for everyone and Cerocers could be spotted dancing their socks off until the early hours each night!

We are so grateful to T.M. teacher,  Peter Herman, for kindly sponsoring the Champs costs.

As a result, 100% of the funds raised went to provide the children at Bali Kids with dance shoes and western dance tuition for a year.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to all our generous product and venue sponsors (in alphabetical order):

Anything But Salads, Azure,  Exotica Dance HK,  Fragrance du Bois, Glow Spa, Mimo Brazil, Play Club, Port Designs, Red Shoes Dance Studio, RED Bar, Rhombus International, Selphi, Sense of Touch, Skalli, Solas and Yealands.

Running for Angels

A huge THANK YOU to all the Angels who ran the Angkor Wat International Marathon course on Sunday 7th December.

We hope the gruelling training sessions over the summer paid off and you enjoyed the race! Whether it was the 10K or Half  Marathon we thank you for taking part and running on behalf of the Angels.

My wife and I took part in the race for the first time and found it an amazing experience. Whilst in Siem Reap we also had the opportunity to visit the Sunrise Children's Village which was equally a memorable and humbling experience.

We visited the Sunrise Children's Village on the Saturday before the race and were instantly greeted with the noise of the children playing and laughing with each other. It was a great experience meeting the children and seeing them so happy together.

After a tour of the facilities we were treated to traditional music and dancing by the children. Some of the children played traditional percussion instruments on the floor whilst the children on stage took us through a host of different dances. They had clearly put a lot of effort into rehearsing and the different dance routines were really impressive!

We learnt so much about the incredible work they do at Sunrise to improve the lives of disadvantaged children. It was an inspiring visit and provided some extra motivation for the half marathon and our fundraising efforts!

Friday Finds Event

On Friday 14th November Sai Kung was the place to be, with the first ever Friday Finds bringing a great night out for the whole community.

Set in Sai Kung's stylish co-working venue, the Hive, over 20 leading local businesses came together to host an afternoon and evening of eating, drinking, socialising and shopping in the run up to the festive season.

Families enjoyed a range of activities, games and photo sessions all afternoon and then the event continued on till late. All proceeds from the evening, including a sponsored raffle, were donated to Angels For Orphans. Friday Finds was created by two local business owners Olivia Crooke (Smallprint Fingerprint Jewellery) and Ellie Rampton (Biscuit Moon Designs).
