To Our Clients and Friends,
The US House Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy is holding a hearing tomorrow, July 13 at 10:00 am EDT on the Oversight of CERCLA Implementation. Industries are using this hearing to seek weaker cleanup efforts at many of ESC's current project sites and elsewhere around the country.
Dr. Peter deFur will be submitting a letter for the record advocating for Superfundfund reauthorization and stronger cleanups and opposing the use of presumptive capping remedies for all sediment sites.
Please take a moment to submit a letter to the Subcommittee. Letters should include the need to reauthorize Superfund and to reinstate fees. Additional information, such as the need for updated standards and increased community access, can also be included. Letters should be addressed to the Subcommittee Chairman, John Shimkus, and the Ranking Member, Paul Tonko, and can be sent to:
Committee on Energy and Commerce, Democratic Staff
2322A Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515.
More information on the hearing and the Subcommittee can be found here. The hearing can be watched via a live webcast on the Subcommittee website.
