Summary history about St. Patrick's Day -
Why is St. Patrick's Day celebrated on March 17 every year holiday? It started around 1631 when the church established a Feast Day in observance of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland who died around fifth the century. In the U.S. the holiday has evolved into a celebration of Irish culture with parades, special foods & drinking, music, dancing, and a whole lot of GREEN! The original man, a priest named Maewyn Succat changed his name to St. Patrick which means "father figure" in Latin terms. The first parade in New York City where the green color became officially associated with the day. In the late 20th century, Ireland stopped a law that originally kept everything shut down for the day. Since then, thanks to Budweiser for the marketing push, the holiday has become a popular way to celebrate again just the same as the origins of St. Patrick!
