Welcome to Home of Our Own’s (HOOO) inaugural e-mail blast! Thank you for your interest in HOOO’s integrated residential community in New Glarus and in providing differently abled adults the opportunity for independence in a community-based setting.

Big News!

Ground Breaking
Six years of hard work and pure grit are about to make HOOO a reality. FINALLY, we’re cleaning off our shovels and getting ready for groundbreaking in October 2019. By this time next year, at least a dozen adults of different abilities will have their very own apartment, along with indoor and outdoor community spaces where they can interact with and become friends with others of all abilities and age groups. In addition, approximately 50 local workers or seniors will have rental homes they can afford. Watch this space and our Facebook page for regular updates and pictures of our progress!

Getting To Know Us

Meet Our Favorite HOOO Grandma!
Dianne Roelke joined HOOO about three years ago. Dianne’s granddaughter, Jessica, hopes to live in her own apartment at HOOO with her best friend, Anna. Jessica lives with her parents in Cross Plains, and experiences Rett’s Syndrome.
But Dianne is no stranger to being involved in community-based initiatives, so her dedication to HOOO is no surprise. In 2017, Dianne was awarded the Dane County Sheriff’s Citizen Award for her volunteer work focused on enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Dane County. Dianne also serves on the Heights United Food Pantry Board, the Wisconsin Heights Educational Foundation Board, and is in charge of the Wisconsin Heights Sharing Tree. We are lucky to have Dianne!

100 Extraordinary Women

On September 12, 2019, dozens of women came together to celebrate the power of working together to create HOOO’s “caring community, housing for all.” As of publishing time, 104 women (or men on behalf of a woman) each pledged $1000 in a lump sum, or over five years.
