The committee would like to thank all those who have supported the club in the past year and hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Now the committee is back to work on this year's events.
Annual General Meeting 10th September 2018.
This year, the Club had many changes at our Annual General Meeting. President Faye Carruthers decided to pass her duties onto the next generation and step down as president of the club. Her final motion as president was to propose Ross Brisco as the new president of the club.
The Club also gained some new members on the committee in the form of the new heads of school, Rachel Hepburn and Sophie Hutchison, joined by the new school liaison Fiona Hewitt.

Annual Charity Gala Ball Friday 8th March 2019
The Annual Charity Gala Ball is a great opportunity to reconnect with Grammarians of all ages. The format of the night is a three-course dinner with tea coffee, music games and entertainment. The night will include ceilidh dancing early on and a DJ later in the night.
All money raised on the night through the raffle and games efforts will be donated to charity. After consultation of the committee, we have decided to support a christy with great meaning to those in the school named Finding Your Feet. The charity supports families affected by amputation or limb difference, through a range of initiatives including sport and social inclusion.
We encourage all to attend as you don't have to be an old grammarian to come along. However, it is a great opportunity to organise a reunion of your class or to reminisce about the school days. To purchase tickets see the tickets page on our website. Tickets cost £35 plus a £1.50 transaction fee for using Paypal. To avoid this you may also pay via bank transfer by contacting a committee member or emailing email@example.com.
The 90th.Anniversary of the Old Grammarians’ Club was celebrated in style at the October Lunch held at the David Lloyd Leisure, Renfrew. We had a record attendance of 120 Old Grammarians, former Staff, pupils, family and friends.
Our speakers, Former Rector and Pupil Hugh Nisbet, and Joyce McMillan, Drama Critic and Journalist, both entertained in their own distinctive styles and were very well received. Thanks as always to the Staff at David Lloyd Leisure for catering and fitting out such a splendid Function Room. A display of memorabilia recorded the 90 years of our existence and included all “Grammarian” magazines and portraits of each Rector.
A highlight of the Lunch was “Songs from the Shows” performed by former Principals from the School’s successful musical shows of the 1970s and 80s. These were produced by Miss Lea Allan ably assisted by Bill Robertson and Derek Norval, all of whom were welcome guests. In summary, this was a great ending to a year of celebration which started with our successful Charity Ball in March.
Senior Lunch 2018 30th April 2018
The Club’s Golf Section continues to thrive under the leadership of James Andrew. The R. Y. Corbett Memorial Salver was played this year at Ralston Golf Club on 28th August 2018. 12 members took part and the winner was Peter Fleming, Ralston Golf Club, with an excellent score of 38 stableford points, runner-up was Jim Park, Ranfurly Castle, and third James Andrew, Ranfurly Castle.
The golf section is very interested in encouraging younger members to join the golf section and if you are interested you can contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Club remains financially healthy as a Club despite not charging for membership and having limited sources of income. Donations are always welcome (cheque or PayPal). The Club has a very attractive enamelled pin badge which we sell in aid of Club funds. These cost £2 (£3 by UK post, £5 by overseas post). If you would like one, please contact email@example.com.

The Club's Facebook page is growing in popularity by the day. We have regular enquiries about former pupils and sharing of memories. Every Thursday we post photos from The Grammarian magazines which cause much interaction and amusement. Click this link to have a look - www.facebook.com/OldGrammariansClub
Portraits of our Rectors, from George Aimer Russell to John Pears, have been in the safekeeping of Bruce Erroch, Past President of the Club, since they were removed from the walls of the Memorial Hall a decade ago.
The Club is now allocating them to the Former Rectors’ families where possible. Robin, son of Robert Corbett, has taken charge of the ‘RYC’ portrait, and William Jamieson, son of Ninian who was a nephew of Ninian Jamieson, has accepted the portrait of ‘NAJ’. Our photo shows Alastair Corbett, Robin’s son, and old school friend William with the respective portraits. Both families have kindly agreed to make the portraits available for any future OG Club event.
From all those who keep the Club running, we hope you have a wonderful year and we hope to see you at one of our events in the future.
