2022 Equal Access to Justice Event Highlights

"I would like to thank everyone who attended our 2022 Equal Access to Justice Gala as we celebrated our organization and the commitment of our honorees to ensuring justice for all," said Rachel Halperin, CEO of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley. "This year's gala would not be possible without our supporters who believe in our mission and the work we do each day to provide free civil legal services to those who are unable to afford an attorney. The funds we have received at this year's gala will allow us to continue our mission of helping our neighbors throughout the Hudson Valley who have nowhere else to turn when their basic needs are at stake."

LSHV in the Community

LSHV Staff participated in several events throughout the Hudson Valley this August, including Day of Unity with United Way of Ulster, and Port Chester’s Unity Day.

Our staff also visited the Children’s Village in Dobbs Ferry and introduced the different professions within the legal field to a diverse group of children, ages 7-19.
Antonio Martinez, Paralegal - LGBTQ+ Unit, then presented an interactive LGBTQ+ Know Your Rights informational session to the group.

“Our young people and staff were engaged and will continue to have conversations on this topic because you sparked their interest. We cannot thank you enough!” said Kerlyne Colin, MSW, Equity & Special Projects Director of Children’s Village.

Children’s Village works in partnership with families to help society’s most vulnerable children so that they become educationally proficient, economically productive, and socially responsible members of their communities.
