Laura's Story

As you plan your family celebrations this holiday season, won't you consider those who are struggling to pay their rent, find a job, put food on the table or overcome health challenges. LSHV staff continues to fight for the rights of individuals by making sure they have a stable place to live, basic and critical health care, food vouchers to feed their families and so much more. Without our services, so many more people would be spending the holidays on the street or choosing between paying rent or buying food.

One of those people is Laura, who came to LSHV because she was told her mortgage payment would jump from $850 per month to almost $1,500 due to an escrow shortage.

Laura was struggling to pay the $850 and knew that the increase would cause her to lose her home and she didn't know where her and her son would wind up. There had to be an error, but no one would return her calls and she started getting legal notices for lack of payment. Laura reached out for help and her assigned LSHV attorney stepped in and was able to identify the issue, get the error adjusted and get Laura a reduced monthly payment based on the current interest rates.

Foreclosure averted and Laura and her family are able to celebrate the holidays in the comfort of thier home this season!
