The 2021 LSHV Annual Report is Now Available

I am pleased to announce that Legal Services of the Hudson Valley's (LSHV) 2021 annual report is available online at https://lshv.org/annual-report-financials and in print upon request. Your unwavering support throughout the year fueled our efforts as we assisted an unprecedented number of clients.

The great need for our services necessitated rapid expansion. Due to the increased demand for legal services during a time of crisis and with help from supporters like you, LSHV proudly increased its staff, moved two of its locations to new offices, and developed an aggressive strategic plan. The strategic plan was designed to manage the organization's growth and ensure we remain steadfast on our path to equal access to justice for all.

2021 was a unique time for LSHV as we adjusted to challenges presented by a post-COVID-19 environment. With the ending of the moratorium looming, and the housing crisis in the Hudson Valley worsening, LSHV handled more than 5,000 cases related to housing issues alone. Despite the challenges, LSHV has been resilient in seeking justice for our clients, like Shaniqua. She came to us in 2020 urgently needing our support regarding her deplorable living conditions, having previously received our assistance in 2017. At that time, LSHV staff were able to get Shaniqua an abatement on rent paid, and a judge ordered her landlord to make much-needed repairs to her apartment. Unfortunately, the repairs never happened. After years of terrible living conditions with leaks in the ceiling and a maggot infestation, Shaniqua returned to LSHV for help again. Pro Bono attorney, Chris Conroy, negotiated a favorable outcome for Shaniqua and her daughter. They now live in a new building, and Shaniqua has completed her Master's in Criminal Justice.

Your support has allowed us to continue to provide much-needed, high-quality legal assistance to the most vulnerable populations throughout the Hudson Valley. Our work together has and will continue to truly impact the communities we serve. WE can continue to help those in crisis for many years to come.
