AUSTRIAN FASHION AWARDS 2022
The Austrian Fashion Association congratulates Klaus Mühlbauer and MÜHLBAUER HATMAKERS SINCE 1903 on winning the outstanding artist award for experimental fashion design of the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport and MATTHIAS WINKLER on winning the Fashion Award of the City of Vienna 2022!
The awards were presented on November 17 in front of around 500 guests at the MAK - Museum of Applied Arts.
MÜHLBAUER HATMAKERS SINCE 1903 showed a selection of their headgear on peculiar creatures, hybrid beings between animals and humans, which moved through the room and the crowd of visitors. Shoes by MATTHIAS WINKLER were staged as an installation in interaction with chairs from the MAK collection.
In addition to the work of this year's winners, the Austrian Fashion Association also presented selected design positions that were funded through the AFA support program or awarded a Startstipendium MODE of the BMKOES due to their outstanding achievements in the past year: Alessandro Santi, Christoph Rumpf, Florentina Leitner, GÜÇ, HISU PARK, INFFOLDER, Ivan Iveljić, Larissa Falk, MIT STRESS, MOB Industries, René Scheibenbauer, Stephanie Edelhofer.
Their collection pieces were shown on models in the form of a performative presentation. The presentation was completed by a film for the Austrian Fashion Awards 2022 by photographer Yannick Schuette and stylist Simon Winkelmüller.
In addition, a live musical performance by harpist Miriam Adefris and electronic musician Ganaël Dumreicher, as well as DJ sets by musician and composer Cecilia and multidisciplinary artist Noushin Redjaian provided acoustic highlights.
