Phnom Penh Conference
The Phnom Penh Conference on Strengthening Essential and Emergency Surgery and Anesthesia will be held March 24-25, 2016. The momentum continues to build for global surgery as researchers, advocates, policy makers, academics, healthcare professionals, and funders gather in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to discuss how best to meet the unmet surgical needs in the South and Southeast Asia region. Dr. Nobhojit Roy, a commissioner from The Lancet Commission on Global Surgery, and Dr. Walt Johnson, the Lead for Essential and Emergency Surgical Care at the World Health Organization, will provide the background and the mandates of the WHA resolution 68.15 to the various stakeholders currently involved in surgical and anesthesia capacity-building in the region. Collaboration amongst the actors and integration into national health plans will be emphasized.
The Asian Australasian Society of Neurological Surgeons and the Cambodian Society of Neurosurgeons will hold a Neurotrauma Conference conjointly to help the regional neurosurgical community to understand the critical role of head and spine injury care in the context of essential and emergency surgical care in the region.
