Welcome everyone to the 2016 footy season and our first edition of Hawk Squawk!

I’m sure all the kids are excited about finally getting on the park this weekend.  And maybe a few parents too!

Thanks Team

The start of the season is always the busiest time for our Committee. Firstly, thanks to Michelle Richards our Registrar for smoothly dealing with the rego process and also our Age Group Coordinators, Andie Fagan (Auskick), Brendan Lynch (Modified) and Dave Beaman (Youth) for the difficult job of team allocation. As you would appreciate, team allocation is one of the most difficult jobs every year as we try to accommodate a thousand rego requests as best we can. Thanks Gents!

I’d also like to welcome several new Committee Members; John Burton, Paul Sparke, Maree Rowles, Karen Banducci, John Sobolewski, Geoff Bailey, Greg McIntosh and Paul White. But we still have several positions to fill (see more details in this newsletter) and without the help of volunteers, footy doesn’t happen.

Thank you Daniel Rich!

Yes, Daniel Rich is still doing his bit for the Club. One of our past players, Daniel kicked a Super Goal in the NAB Challenge earlier this year which earned his junior club (that’s us) a swag of balls and training kit courtesy of NAB. Onya Daniel! We’ll have more details later in the season.

A bit of Seacrest Etiquette

As we all know, it can get a bit busy down at Seacrest on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Please note that with the path now moved we ask everyone park end-on and as close to the adjacent car as possible to maximise parking around the ground. Please also respect the local community and be considerate if parking on the surrounding streets.

Good luck!

Sponsors making it possible

The Club is lucky to have a number of quality sponsors and their donations help to keep our registration fees down and supply good quality equipment. So please support our sponsors when you can.

Special Mention

We would like to thank the "Duncraig Lions Club" and Bill Fleming who not only donated umpire vests for all Auskick Teams in 2015 but made a further commitment to provide the club with $200 for seasons 2016/17/18 for which the club could use to purchase equipment or anything to assist with the running of the club.

Thank You Bill.

Sharks lose their sea legs

The Year 5 Sharks lost their sea legs recently to undertake a 5km run at Carine Glades Parkrun.  A total of 14 players and 12 parents took part.  With the joining of two teams together this season, Coach Ash Brooks arranged the preseason run as a team building exercise, the only rule being that the first lap (2.5kms) must be run together as a team.  The boys were then given the option to continue running with the majority of boys opting to run the last lap for a personal best. "The coaching team wanted to build confidence, resilience and comraderie amongst the kids.  We were so impressed and proud of how well they all did".

2016 Auskick

One more sleep to go until the Auskick season commences and a return to footy for many and a lot of first time nerves and excitement for our first time Auskickers.
Wishing all you kids and parents the best for the season ahead and please believe when I tell you enjoy every minute of it, because the season goes so quickly.
Keep an eye on our facebook page for upcoming posts, news and photographs for our Auskick programme.

Good Luck

2016 Modifieds

Welcome all to the 2016 Modified Season! I’m pumped to see how the improvement in the player’s abilities improves from last year and look forward to the kids having an enjoyable season. Keep an eye out for information from your coaches and managers especially when it come to your turn to set up the ground. Wishing every one the very best
