Hello District 7255 Rotarians,
It’s already December!
I hope you’ll join me for merriment and joy at our LAST in-person Happenings, this Saturday December 3 at 9am. You’ll need to register at https://rotary7255.org/event/holiday-happenings/ by Friday at 12noon.
For January, February, and March our Happenings will be on ZOOM. They will be on Mondays at 7pm, not to interfere with club meetings. The next one will be Monday, January 9 and yes you will need to register, as always.
I’m really excited about Rotary Day of Service on May 20. It’s when all of us will be doing a service project that day. We are joining with 7 Districts and over 10,000 yes 10,000 Rotarians from NY, CT, MA, and Bermuda are all doing service projects on the same day. Imagine the publicity, Imagine the exposure, Imagine the IMPACT when all our clubs across the whole Island are doing service on the same day. More details will be forthcoming in January. In the meantime, begin to plan what your project will be and who will you be collaborating with, other clubs, the community, the public to join in, and do service with us. FABULOUS!!!
Your participation and feedback is what strengthens our District. We are always looking for members to join us on our various committees. Have you ever wanted to participate on the District committees or wondered how the committees function? Maybe you’ve wanted to an Assistant Governor, or serve on the Foundation or Finance committee, or another committee, we want you. So let me know, send me an email and I’ll forward it to the appropriate committee. I’d love your participation.
We’ve updated the district website, it’s always evolving thanks to your feedback. So have a peek and let me know. https://rotary7255.org/
I recently watched one of my favorite movies, LOVE ACTUALLY. In the opening Hugh Grant says “whenever I get gloomy about the state of the world, I think of the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. About the pure uncomplicated love of friends and families welcoming loved ones.” That’s exactly how I feel about you. I think about our District, you the members and all the smiles and love you bring to strangers, and it warms my heart. Thank you for all you do and thank you for being in Rotary. During this hectic crazy month, take a moment to appreciate yourself and your club, because you are the District.
Smiles,
Sonia Saleh
