On March 20th, a delegation of 90 persons from Sacred Heart Church, Cambria Heights, Queens left NY and traveled to Istanbul, Turkey.  This group included 3 Rotarians from the Rotary Satellite Club of South Queens and 1 Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Freeport Merrick  (Sheila Jean Paul, Elsie Saint-Louis, Jocelyne Mayas and Gina Fausti). 
This group carried with them hundreds of basic essential items to assist the humanitarian effort for the victims of the recent and devastating earthquake in Turkey. The delegation was met by Turkish representatives and members of the Kalamiş Rotary Klub (Rotary District 2420) to receive these items, as the NY delegation were unable to journey to Hatay Defne province where the items were needed.
Per Rotarian Rezzan Özsarfati, from the Kalamiş Rotary Klub, Hatay Defne province was one of the worst hit districts and these essential items were greatly appreciated by the people who have been displaced by the earthquake.
