The intersection of social justice + art

A 100' mural, two installations, a print release, & auctions

I Vote Because is a 100' mural for the Murals in the Market Festival in Detroit. It is created in collaboration with For Freedoms, the ACLU, and Emgage. The ACLU & Emgage will be registering people to vote by the wall and a selfie station located in a prime photo location will be positioned to engage viewers to take a selfie and discuss why voting is important to them. Come visit, post a picture on social media and share your thoughts on the American voting system. For every voter the team registers at the wall I will add a star to the mural so we can tally in real time the effectiveness of the activation. There will be over 20 artists painting murals all throughout Eastern Market from Sept 14-22. If you're in the area come check things out- the neighborhood will be buzzing with creativity.

...and counting; 2016; dimensions variable; toe tags, ribbon, metal, ink
If you're in NYC check out Museum of Broken Windows which is open to the public Sept 22-30th. My 2016 chrono-reactive installation ...and counting will be on view. This hanging installation of 1093 toe tags documents every police-related death in 2016. It's haunting, beautiful and this is the first time the work has been shown in its entirety.
Coming up on October 4th-7th I will be participating in the Special Project Series UNCENSORED at Moniker Art Fair, curated by Tina Ziegler and Urban Nation's Director Yasha Young. If you're in London please come through- the works promise to be thought-provoking, challenging, and irreverent- not adjectives I typically associate with art fairs. I will also be participating in a short screening of the documentary Street Heroines at the fair with a Q&A afterwards with Zahra Sherzad on Sunday Oct 7th- time TBD.
