Get Snug with Snowbound!

November 30-December 16, 2018
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm * Sundays at 2:30 pm
Performed on the Mainstage

Folks loved this sweet, heartwarming holiday show so much that we're bringing it back! We're also so excited to welcome so many newcomers to our stage!

It's Christmas Eve in 1955 at a small town train depot where the snowy weather has caused some delays. Over the course of the evening, strangers become friends, friends become family, and the warmth of human connection is deepened through stories and songs. Though the weather outside is frightful, inside the depot it's delightful as memories of Christmases past are shared. Written by local storyteller and musician Tom Godleski and performed with original music and traditional songs by local bluegrass musicians. Directed by Lori Hilliard.
Before the show begins, the band warms up! We caught them playing and singing "Snowbound," the title song from the show.

We're thrilled to welcome local playwright and poet Monica McDaniel to 35below. Not only is she the writer of this piece, she's directing and producing!

Here's the story: As Logan is trying to get her life back from her long battle with drugs, she realizes that the very thing that she has been running from has been right in front of her the whole time. Join us for a night of reflection, singing, praising and discovery.

Blue Ridge Productions is bringing this show to our stage next week, and we think it sounds amazing!

Here's what singer Tim Shelton said about the type of show he's created, which is based on the way some of his musical heroes produced their records and shows. He wanted a show that was “The way a live show might have looked in the 1940’s, 50’s or 60’s. A rhythm section, a horn section and great music. Classic sounds and classic style. That’s what this show’s about.”

Comedy maestro Tom Chalmers returns once again to star as Crumpet in The Santaland Diaries, Asheville’s celebrated non-traditional holiday tradition! The Santaland Diaries is performed in many theaters across the country but nowhere quite the way that Tom does it! He performed the show to sold-out crowds on our Mainstage for seven years from 2005-2011 and returned to the role last year.

You may know Tom from Listen to This, Reasonably Priced Babies, or the Asheville School on Improv, but if you haven't seen him in a pair of candy cane striped tights, you're missing out! Make this your year!
