The Full Monty Opens Friday!

June 1-24, 2018
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm; Sundays at 2:30 pm
+ select Thursdays at 7:30 pm
Performed on the Mainstage

Out of work, out of money, and almost out of ideas - until these guys have a chance encounter with a male exotic dancer (and the throngs of women who have come out to see him). The guys decide to form Hot Metal to do a one-night-only striptease performance where they guarantee to go "the full monty." But will they really pull it off? Based on the cult hit film of the same name, The Full Monty is a ten-time Tony Award nominee filled with honest affection, engaging melodies and the most highly anticipated closing number of any show. This show is helmed by Jerry Crouch with music direction by Rob Blackwell and choreography by Jacob Walas and stars a cast of 21 community members (including Andy Thompson, Corey Link, Elijah York, Mark Jones, Nick Biggs and Michael Crosa, pictured above).

Tickets are going quickly for this one - and we know that after opening weekend, they'll go even quicker! Pro tip: get your tickets for this weekend!

Opening Weekend Events (all included with your ticket):
+ Friday, June 1: Opening Night: Pre-show champagne reception
+ Saturday, June 2: Sweet Saturday: Pre-show chocolates
+ Sunday, June 3: Q&A Matinee: Post-show talk-back with the cast and crew (good time to ask "Where DID you put the body mics?")

Listen to This

Thursday, May 31 * 7:30 pm
Performed in 35below

Ring! Ring! Listen to This, stories and more on stage. returns this Thursday night with an outstanding lineup for the theme "Call Backwarding: True Tales of Taken, Made, or Overheard Phone Calls." Every time you answer the phone, it could just be a telemarketer or it could be news that could change the course of your life, for good or bad. And when you dial the phone, you have the power to do the same to someone else. The phone is so important that we now carry it everywhere we go. Surely it deserves its own evening of stories and more. Featuring stories by Sharon Feingold, Alison Fields, Waylon Wood, and maybe Sarah Spooner (she's on call). Plus comedy from Cary Goff and a captured moment from Joe Shelton. And songs by Gracie Calais. Hosted by Tom Chalmers.

Be a part of the Southeastern premiere of this show! Director Betsy Puckett seeks 3 women and 4 men for this modern comedy. And gosh, it's a good one! (I personally laughed and laughed out loud reading it until the ending punched me in the solar plexus). All roles at ACT are available to anyone in the community; no previous experience either at ACT or anywhere else is required.

We have scripts available to check out in the Box Office (leave us a $10 deposit which we'll give you back when you return the script). Box Office hours are Tuesday-Friday 10-4.

7th Year for Costume Drama

Friday, July 6, 2018
7:30 pm

On the Mainstage

Costume Drama is back on the ACT Mainstage! Which means great lighting and runway, and also extremely limited seating (we recommend that you get your tickets soon!) This eclectic evening of inventive fashion has quickly become one of the highlights of the Asheville event calendar and sells out every year! Local designers compete for cash prizes in this Project Runway-esque show, and proceeds from tickets benefit the theatre.

This year, we juried the entries and have 20 top designers competing in 4 categories: Hardware, Light, Paper, and Revisionist History. There are two levels of seating: Preferred, which gets you the best look at the garments as they're debuted onstage and as they travel through the audience, and Standard, which in our theatre is still a great seat!
