School's out for kids - but summer is the perfect time for adults to take a class! Our next round of classes start next week!

Improv I: The Basics of Inspired Improvisation
Taught by Tom Chalmers
Ages 18+
June 13-July 25, 2022 | Mondays at 6:30-8:30 PM


Did you know listening is a core fundamental of comedy? Take this course and you'll find out why! Improv 1 covers the fundamentals of improvisational acting with an emphasis on comedy; such as listening, commitment, intuitive reaction, as well as recognizing and capitalizing on emerging patterns.

Physical Comedy: Being Funny In & With Your Body
Taught by Tom Chalmers
Ages 18+
June 14-July 26, 2022 | Tuesdays at 6:30-8:30 PM


Trips, stumbles, falls, takes, doubletakes, slow burns, and more! This course covers the spirit and techniques involved in creating and performing physical comedy, and will teach many of the tools used to build a bold physical comedy bit.

This camp will focus on musical theatre audition techniques and repertoire, culminating in a final piece showcase at the end of the week.

Mikayla Wilson - Marketing & Box Office Associate


Mikayla has been a part of Asheville Community Theatre for several years. She began working with us as a stage manager while she was still a student at UNCA, and most recently has been a member of our Event Management staff. We're so excited that she'll be with us full-time as our Marketing & Box Office Associate!

Mandy Vollrath - Business Manager


Mandy has been working in arts management for many years, and we're thrilled to welcome her to our team. She's worked with several non-profit organizations in town, and in her spare time, she's an accomplished musician and singer! In fact, you may have seen her onstage in SART's Sisters of Swing.
